Pocklington Lodge in Shepherds Bush is home to fifty blind and partially sighted residents. It is the last remaining accommodation of its kind owned by the Thomas Pocklington Trust (TPT), a charity originally founded to provide housing for the visually impaired.
Despite holding over £170 million in assets, tenants were notified in April 2025 by the charity that TPT now plan to sell Pocklington Lodge—abandoning its founding mission and breaking promises made to residents who were previously relocated from other closed sites. This decision follows a recently approved planning application to expand the building, raising serious questions about the motives behind the sale.
Tenants have made repeated requests for financial transparency and assurance that the functional status of the building will remain for visually impaired. TPT have not been able to fulfil either request. The sale not only puts the residents’ homes at risk, but also their independence, safety, and community.
We are calling on TPT to:
Guarantee that Pocklington Lodge will remain housing for blind and partially sighted people and the functional status will not be removed by them or future buyers.
Provide full financial transparency on the building’s running costs.
Please support the tenants in their fight to protect their home
